ktvu's janine de la vega spoke with the sheriff about the report. >> reporter: the sheriff hopes that this report shows that the department investigates complaints thoroughly and takes swift action. the sheriff says that she is not surprised at the number of cases because she reviews them and signs off on the discipline. here is a breakdown of what they found. from 2010 to 2015, there were 83 investigators which were sustained, which means the complaints made against deputies and civilian employees who work at the jail is found to be true. the number is low in 2015, but that's because three deputies are still pending. there are several others that are on administrative leave for other misconduct that doesn't involve use of force. now, out of all the investigations from the past six years, it 2 deputies were fired for wrongdoing and 27 were suspended. the sheriff released this new report because the blue ribbon commission and oversight committee requested it. >> we are able to provide all of the documents and everything that we're doing in a very, very transparent way, and i think that

ktvu's janine de la vega is in pacifica. a sinkhole appeared out there. >> reporter: the sinkhole is right behind me. it appeared in a popular area on beach boulevard near the pier. and right now it's covered by the huge boulders that public works crews wrought in. they are trying to save the road. the water is washing up on the sidewalk. and it was large waves that pounded the seashore in pacifica. and that's what washed out a chunk of the sidewalk creating the sinkhole yesterday. here's photos of the damage. workers brought in the back hoes and boulders to fill it. a high surf warning did expire a short time ago. many were told to watch out for 19-foot waves. other damage occurred near the oakland, piedmont border. a huge tree fell on power lines and knocked out power to 500 customers. crews worked most of the night to clean up everything. >> i was downstairs and all of a sudden there was a large explosion. and we weren't sure what happened. and we kind of came out here. and we had the power lines down in front of our hous

janine de la vega is joining us live with more about the report. >> reporter: it's a very interesting report. i've taken a look at it. and it gives us a glimpse into what the deputies and civilian employees are accused of. and it ranges from driving under the influence to use of force to deputies cursing at inmates. here is a breakdown of the numbers. if you can take a look at this. from 2010 to 2015 there were 83 sustained investigations involving jail deputies and civilian employees who worked at the jail where they found some misconduct. you can see the numbers low in 2015 compared to other years but that's because there are cases still pending like the three deputies who were arrested last year for the beating death of michael tyrie. there are others on administrative leave for the other misconduct that don't involve misuse of force. of all the investigations, 27 were suspended and 23 were fired. there was some use of force, some driving under the influence, and some accused of having inappropriate relationships with inmates. all this information is going to be handed over to the
